Purpose of the Governing Body
On a visit to the Ramsey Academy recently I introduced myself to a couple of students who were guiding me to a House Assembly and they asked me what governors did. My short informal reply was that we work very closely with Mr James and the senior staff to ensure that the Ramsey Academy remains the best secondary school in the area.
A longer, more formal reply would be:
- We ensure the highest standards of achievement for all students in the school by:
- Working with the Headteacher and senior staff to set the school’s vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- Monitoring and analysing the educational performance of the school and its students; and
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
If anyone reading this is over 18 and would like to join our governing body please contact the school in the first instance and a visit will be arranged whereby the role and responsibility of a governor will be fully discussed.
