    £1m of Funding Addresses Priority Issues at Ramsey

Ramsey College is delighted with recent announcements that will fund high priority issues at the school.

£1million of funding, coming from Essex County Council’s 2012/13 and 2013/14 maintenance budgets will fund:

  • Highest priority roof leaks
  • Cladding to Bois Hall block
  • Windows to New Hall and Fenn Hall blocks
  • Windows to the gymnasium

The works will be commencing shortly and will take a number of months to complete and be finished in time for the new term in September 2013.  The outcome of the project will improve the safety of the building and provide much needed environmental improvements.

Essex County Councillor Stephen Castle, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Education said: “I am delighted to announce the funding to Ramsey College. We are aware that there are a number of priority areas to the College’s buildings and the funding will address these. We are committed to the future of Ramsey College and such improvements ensure that all pupils are learning in a safe and comfortable environment.”

Ramsey College Headteacher Daniel Gee commented: “We are delighted at the funding that has been made available by the Local Authority. We are incredibly proud of our students and we feel that it is vital that they, in turn, are able to be proud of their school building. This is a very important step on that journey. In addition to the external works we have already begun re-decoration of the school and this work is planned to continue throughout the academic year.”

The Ramsey College was also pleased to announce significant refurbishment of its sporting facilities through the support of Braintree District Council and Fusion Lifestyle The Halstead Leisure Centre adjacent to the Ramsey College will also undergo some extensive redevelopments which will  include a full refurbishment  of the first floor fitness studio by improving the insulation and air condition along with installing new flooring also the building of a new studio adjacent to this which will house additional fitness classes. The ground floor changing rooms will also be fully refurbished to a higher standard. Other works will include refurbishment of the circulation areas and upgrading of the insulation, heating and ventilation in the sports hall.
