On Monday 22 February we had the first of two visits from BAFTA Award winning biologist Simon Watt to deliver a fun and interactive presentation about many of the Earth’s unknown endangered species.

The sessions enabled our students and also students from our local primary schools to learn about what causes a species to become extinct and also the various adaption and survival techniques applied by some others, these include producing copious amounts of mucus and spraying blood from their eyes.

Mr Watt also drew attention to our local environment, highlighting the plight of bats and how simple it is to build a bat box to help our native species survive. Instructions on how to build these can be easily found on the internet.

Overall this was a very positive and rewarding session for all the students that took part.
