British Schools Score Championships 2012
On Saturday 13th October, the Ramsey Orienteering team headed off to Kingsbury Water Park in the West Midlands to compete in the British Schools Score Championships. The first team member headed out onto the course at 11.15 am in the College’s new team kit with the aim to collect as many points in the allotted 45 minutes.
Students had to independently navigate themselves around the course and ensure they returned within their time allocation. All the students worked really hard and performed extremely well. The team consisted of 5 year 8 students and 1 year 7. The girls’ team finished in 8th place overall and the boys’ team managed 11th position. Individually, Georgia Gower came in 6th place, Lucy Edwards 16th and the paired runners Chloe Plumb and Amy Bocking finished in 17th Place. In the largest competing field of the day (Year 8 boys) Tom Lock put in a good performance and came 21st and Callum Turner managed to finish in 25th place. All our students managed to finish in the top half of the competitors. This is a real achievement as the students were competing against students throughout the whole country.
