The Ramsey College GCSE Results

Students and staff at The Ramsey College are again celebrating some excellent GCSE examination results. Year 11 students are, this morning, receiving the results of their GCSEs and other qualifications taken this summer.

71% of the Year 11 students achieved 5 or more A*-C grades (an 11% rise from 2012), with 41% achieving this measure including English and mathematics. 96% of students achieved 5 or more A*-G grades and there were many outstanding individual achievements. Notable among these were Lakmini Kahanawita Arachchige and Jade Phillips who achieved eleven and ten GCSEs at grades A* and A, respectively. They were closely followed by Holly Morrison-Kemp and George Neale who achieved nine and eight GCSE passes at A* and A grade.

Headteacher, Daniel Gee, commented, “We are delighted with the overall achievements that our students have made this year. We have maintained our performance with the government’s measure of 5 or more A*-C grades including English and mathematics while we have seen the number of students achieving at least 5 ‘good’ GCSE passes overall increase by a very impressive 10% over the last year. We are also delighted to have seen a doubling in the number of students achieving the English Baccalaureate (i.e. those students who achieved ‘good’ passes in English, mathematics, at least two sciences, a humanities and a foreign language). We are particularly encouraged by the success of students of all abilities; there have been some incredible results by students in some really challenging circumstances.”

He added, “We have made strong progress as a school over the last twelve months and, having been judged as a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted in June 2013, we look forward to continuing our drive to give students the best possible opportunities and to see their results continue to rise.  I would like to congratulate both the students and staff for their achievements this year and we wish our students well for the future.”
