What pupils will know:

Key artistic concepts such as line, tone, colour, composition, and form
How artists, craftspeople, and designers work across different cultures and time periods
A range of materials, techniques, and processes including drawing, painting, printmaking, and mixed media
That creative processes require control and coordination, developing fine motor skills

What pupils will understand:

How and why art communicates meaning, ideas, and messages
That art reflects identity, culture, and society, both historically and in contemporary contexts
That creativity involves experimentation, decision-making, and refinement rather than fixed answers
That discussing art develops vocabulary, communication skills, and confidence

Create personal responses informed by artist research
