Computer Science
"Make the impossible, possible"
At The Ramsey Academy, we firmly believe in achieving excellence together. In Computer Science, our curriculum intent is to ensure every student, regardless of background, accesses a broad, balanced and inclusive digital education.
Through a curriculum that supports and challenges, students develop mastery of core computational ideas, digital literacy and problem-solving skills. The aim is for students to apply these ideas and skills with confidence in an increasingly technological world.
We deliver an ambitious, knowledge-rich Computer Science curriculum. Students revisit and build on prior knowledge, learning secure threshold concepts such as programming, networks, cybersecurity and safe digital practice. This ensures students can know, understand and do more as they progress.
Practical digital skills such as coding, digital creativity, and responsible technology use are not an “add-on” but a core entitlement. Students experiment, design, evaluate and problem-solve using a range of platforms and languages, enabling them to think like computer scientists and digital creators.
This develops independent, resilient learners with fluency in computational thinking, digital literacy and technological communication. Our approach nurtures a lifelong love of learning in technology by encouraging curiosity, creativity and the confidence to explore new digital tools in a safe and structured environment.
Aligned with the school’s ethos, the curriculum empowers students to aspire to high standards, embrace diverse pathways in the digital world, and persevere in solving complex problems.
