In the MFL department, we firmly believe in achieving excellence together in the study of a foreign language. Our broad and inclusive curriculum, carefully crafted across both key stages, supports and challenges all students in a positive manner to give them not only a knowledge of the words, but also a wide and enriched awareness and competence of other cultures.
Through fostering the students’ natural curiosity, MFL provides an array of learning material and resources that challenge preconceptions around cultural differences and language acquisition.
Students are provided with an ambitious knowledge and culture-rich experience that goes beyond the National Curriculum in its depth, enabling them to know, understand and do more. Such curriculum allows students to explore and develop confidence in the language, create a new set of academic and life skills, while ensuring clear progression throughout the learning journey. Students can build on prior knowledge and extend their language skills to become independent learners and communicators, while developing fluency and a lifelong love of learning.
Learning a foreign language goes beyond communication skills, it brings people together in the real world, a world that students will be exploring in the future.

At The Ramsey Academy, we bring to life the languages we teach our students with speaking groups, real case studies of people and celebrities, and a taste of the culture, such as food, festivities, lifestyle and much more.
