"Bringing music to life"

• At The Ramsey Academy, we firmly believe in achieving excellence together through a broad, balanced and inclusive Music curriculum. Our curriculum supports and challenges all students in mastering the disciplines of performance, composition and listening, enabling them to achieve to the best of their ability, regardless of their background or prior musical experience. 

  In Music, students are provided with an ambitious, knowledge-rich experience that goes beyond performance alone. They develop technical proficiency, creativity and analytical understanding through carefully sequenced learning that builds on prior knowledge and secures key threshold concepts. Through practical performance, composition and critical listening, students are empowered to know, understand and do more as musicians, composers and informed audiences. 

  Lessons are designed to foster independence, resilience and musical fluency. Students explore a diverse range of genres, styles and cultural traditions, developing confidence in their practical skills while deepening their theoretical understanding. Through collaborative performance and creative composition, they refine their communication skills, discipline and expressive confidence, enabling them to thrive both individually and as part of an ensemble. 

  In addition to this, the Music curriculum prepares students for further study at post-16 and equips them with the expertise, cultural awareness and employability required to enter the workplace as confident, creative individuals. Whether pursuing a career in the arts or not, students leave Music with transferable skills in collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and self-discipline that are highly valued across all industries.
