At The Ramsey Academy, we firmly believe in achieving excellence together through a broad, balanced and inclusive Drama curriculum. Our curriculum supports and challenges all students in mastering the disciplines of performance and theatre, achieving to the best of their ability, regardless of their background or prior experience.

In Drama, students are provided with an ambitious, knowledge-rich experience that goes beyond performance alone. They develop creativity, collaboration and strong communication skills, alongside practical skills and technical theatre knowledge. Through exploring a wide range of practitioners, styles and genres, students build on prior knowledge and secure key threshold concepts, enabling them to know, understand and do more as performers, directors, designers and reflective practitioners.

Lessons are designed to foster independence and resilience, while encouraging imaginative risk-taking and thoughtful evaluation. Through meaningful collaboration and creative exploration, students gain the confidence to take risks, refine their communication skills and thrive both on stage and behind the scenes. As part of an ensemble, they develop fluency in performance, devising and technical production, alongside a lifelong appreciation of the arts.

In addition to this, the Drama curriculum prepares students for further study at post-16 and equips them with the expertise, character and employability required to enter the workplace as confident, culturally enriched individuals. Whether pursuing a career in the arts or not, students leave Drama with transferable skills in collaboration, creativity, leadership and communication that are highly valued across all industries.
